In February of 2017 the Child Welfare Centers Program of
Mexico (CWCPM) looked at the 65 afterschool programs in Juarez and
selected Amigo Fiel, along with two others, to be the blue prints for
all afterschool programs in Mexico. The CWCPM found that the
operations and leadership methods that Amigo Fiel uses to guide the
children work very well. Luvia Arias, our Director, was invited
to join the board to create a national training and certification
program. The CWCPM specifically wanted Luvia to elaborate on the
character series that we teach to the children at Amigo Fiel.
They saw how our specific program had not only short term but also long
term benefits in the lives of our children. How humbling for God
to use us, to favor us, and give us a platform to share His amazing
ways. The training manual that we have compiled is based on His
Word and will be used throughout Mexico in Christian and secular
afterschool programs alike.

On Good Friday we gathered as a congregation to
remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us. Luvia wrote a drama
about Jesus’ last day and volunteers from the church were our
actors. Josue, a young man from our youth group, portrayed
Jesus Christ and Luvita did an amazing job with his makeup. Honestly
he looked bad, beaten and bruised, as our Savior was. His
semblance was shocking. This reminded us of how many of us have
read about the crucifixion and have a picture in our head.
However, to see a small portion reenacted strikes a very unique chord
each time. Emotions ran high and tears were shed at the thought
that at one point in our lives we were the ones yelling “Crucify
Him!” Until we came to a saving knowledge and accepted Him as
our Lord and Savior! Thank you Lord for your sacrifice. And
we were reminded this was not the last word from Him. We still
had hope, Sunday was coming.

Hope Rises. On Easter Sunday we saw many new
faces at Amigo Fiel. This year we used Facebook
advertising to invite people who live near the church to come and
enjoy Easter Sunday with us. The best part though, is we have
continued to see some attend on a regular basis. Everyone had a
wonderful time celebrating our Risen Lord.

We are seeing entire families coming to service on a
regular basis now. This is an answer to prayer. Our
sanctuary has been filling up every Sunday and we have to send more
people to our overflow area downstairs. We are working on
building a new sanctuary, all on one level, that can accommodate not
only our growing congregation but our elderly who can no longer use
stairs. We purchased a lot and the land is almost ready for
construction to begin but we are still raising funds and finalizing the
building design. Please continue to keep the new families and
