Spring 2017
Amigo Fiel’s youth group closed out the year by delivering meals, prayers, and encouragement to families that live in extreme poverty.  Each youth donated rice or mashed potatoes to complete a meal of roasted chicken, bread, and salsa (it’s not a meal without salsa!). We went to one of the poorest neighborhoods in Juarez.  This area is built on a mountain of garbage, half-finished homes with people living in them, and stray cats and dogs everywhere.  But to them, this is normal, this is their life.  Everyone we met greeted us with warmth and a smile, grateful for the meal.  When we asked what their plans were for New Years Eve they told us nothing as they did not have anything to celebrate with.  That is, until Amigo Fiel showed up.  What a blessing to see our youth delivering these meals, talking with people, praying for people, bringing hope and encouragement to a little corner of our world.  We would like to continue reaching out to this area throughout the year and are praying about what that can look like.
In 2017 we hope to see minds and hearts expanded at our after school program.  We have been praying and brainstorming about how we can have more dynamic interaction with the children.  Our goals of teaching and loving on the kids as God does remains the same.  But this year we would like to stimulate their creativity too by promoting reading, art, and caring for living things.  We plan to set up a little library, a craft room, and a pet area.   We are happy to say the library is underway.  We have been gathering books, book cases, and comfy chairs and are looking for some finishing touches to make the room welcoming to young minds.  We envision shoe-less kids snuggling up in a bean bag with a big book or a teacher or parent sitting on a chair reading a story to a group of youngsters.
Our next project will be the craft room.  We see this as a space where our children will have ongoing projects.  They will be able to go in, take out their bin, work on their project, then clean up and put it all back neatly until they are ready for their next adventure in crafting.
Our final goal for the after school program will be an area for pets and plants.  We hope to share our love for plants and animals with these kids and demonstrate how to care for and love God’s living things.
We believe these three big projects go hand-in-hand with our goals to have dynamic and creative lessons for our kids enabling them to learn more and more about our Lord and Savior.  And yes, we will still make sure they have healthy, well-balanced meals, as we strive to feed the mind, body and soul.

Every month at the after school program children are acknowledged for their acts of service.
We appreciate you praying with us for these specific projects.  We also have additional prayer requests for the church and ministry of Amigo Fiel:
  • Unity in the church
  • Fundraising and the buildout of the new sanctuary
  • For the kids who attend the after school program
  • That God would give our leaders and pastors wisdom
  • That we would seek God before anything else
  • That God would give us the vision that is glorifying to him for this ministry
Happy New Year to each and every one of you. This is the year for you to take hold of God’s promises and see them transform your life!
In Him,
Amigo Fiel Team
