"This neighborhood is starting to look great; it’s really changing! Now we need to continue to pray for a real change in the lives of the people living in these houses.” It was exciting for me to hear the words from Elizabeth capture my vision for this little forgotten neighborhood in Juarez. Elizabeth is one of the ladies who live in this neighborhood and is helping us organize the painting and roof repair projects at “El Rincon” neighborhood; a neighborhood of recyclers who live in one of the poorest sections of Juarez. For a couple of years I’ve had the desire to help these people clean up their neighborhood by getting rid of the trash they have accumulated for years, bring in some very much needed utilities like sanitary sewer and water, paint their homes and repair their leaky roofs. This summer with the help of mission teams from South Dakota and Louisiana we have begun this undertaking and we are already seeing fruit from it… We have three new families from this neighborhood attending Amigo Fiel Church and many children attending the afterschool and summer program; PTL! Please pray as we continue to help these people with their physical needs, but more importantly pray that God gives us wisdom as we attempt to address their great need for a Savior! As I share these thoughts with you I am reminded of Matthew 25:40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.” And Proverbs 19:17 “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.”
